The 2021 Domain Insights & Trends Report presents exclusive domain registration data for 2020 and 2021. The first .com domain name was registered on March 15, 1985, and three decades later it remains the number one choice of domain name on the Internet, with over three million registered with Namecheap in 2021. The second-most TLD popular in 2021 is .xyz, which has registered over 650,000 registrations this year. Interestingly, .me saw a spike in registrations in 2021 and landed in 5th place among the most registered TLDs, the first non-gTLD on the list. It also makes .me the best ccTLD of the year.
